Where Does The Coronavirus Stack Up Against Other American Sports Disruptions? My Answer

ONN – Where Does The Coronavirus Stack Up Against Other American Sports Disruptions? My Answer

My friend Ric Serritella asked this question on Facebook:

Where does the coronavirus stack up against these other outside-the-lines sports disruptions?

9/11, Magic Johnson’s 1991 announcement that he had AIDS, President Ronald Reagan being shot on the day of the NCAA title game in 1981,tThe 1972 Munich Olympics, the Orioles playing without fans in 2015 when there was unrest on the streets of Baltimore, NFL games being played just after President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, the bombing of Pearl Harbor during NFL games in December 7, 1941 and Darryl Stingley paralyzed by a ferocious hit on the football field in 1978. In all these instances, it seemed like sports just didn’t matter very much. (courtesy of Dave Halberstam)

My answer is that the Coronavirus is a wide pandemic. Period. The whole industrialized is impacted.

Stay tuned.

Note from Media and Oakland Now: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a ger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland Now site and -created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of , interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the and within seconds and not hours. Now, is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
