ONN – Using To Make Responses Rather Than Text In The Tradition Of Seesmic

. Mark Zuckerberg’s social media creation has become a monster of words. People writing to each other, many times putting messages out there they’d dare say to the other person’s face in public. Or, if not that, just plain hampered by the fact that we consume text messages rather than voice from a face in a video.

Let’s face it, we all want to connect, but this way of doing so, this -driven habit of writing to each other just isn’t cutting it. That’s why I’m using, as much as I can, video-blogs in place of text on .

It’s not going to replace my mainstay way of using , in fact, I expect it will enhance how I use as I make a push back to the pure-form ging style I enjoy. But I got the idea for this message response way from remembering Seesmic.

Seesmic was one of a number of cool ging platforms out there, but this was the coolest: you made a video-blog about something and others responded not via text, but with s of their own.

Seesmic became known for these video-blog threads. The only problem was, at the time, only a handfull of folks were using Seesmic – not enough for it to reach the vision of mass growth that was in the mind of Loïc Le Meur, its founder and builder.

So, Seesmic became just a standard social media platform, then went the way of Friendster. The lessons of Seesmic seemingly forgotten, until today.

Help me restart something: rather than text on , make a video-blog, and then as your friends and family to do the same. Eventually, we all will have better and more fulfilling digital media communications experiences.

Stay tuned.

Oakland Now Note: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest version of an experimental Media mobile media video-blogging system network. This is a major part of our new approach to the production of media. The uploaded video is from a ger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland Now site and -owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of , interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and also seek interested content and media technology partners.
