ONN – United Airlines Pilot Makes Life-Saving Landing At Very Windy Chicago O’Hare Airport

The 11 AM EST United Airlines Flight UA241 from Atlanta to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport looked like it was headed for a major problem as it approached landing at 12:05 PM CST. High winds, estimated to be between 30 miles-per-hour and as much as 60 miles-per-hour, were making even walking around a challenge; we were in the air.

It was one of the moments I had to , and I’m glad I did, because even with the slight roll motion (enough to give this ger concern), the Airbus A319 leveled out and landed smoothly at the final seconds of approach. That sigh you may have heard in Chicago came from the passengers.

As we de-planed, I had to ask if I could my thanks to the pilot. He offered his name as Chris. All I can say, as I and a passenger who walked by did, is thanks.

Oh, and I referred to “Oscar” in the : that’s Oscar Munoz, United Airlines CEO. Hopefully, United recognizes him. That’s the best landing I’ve experienced in 51 years of travel on United.

With so much bad , people need to know about the good too.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Note from Oakland Now Technical: this video-blog post shows the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Media mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Media’s new and innovative approach to the production of media. The uploaded video is from a ger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland Now site and -owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of , interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
