Buffy Wicks gets President Obama’s endorsement in California Assembly District 15 Race. Wicks worked as Obama’s field organizer during his run for President in 2008 and 2012, and in the Obama White House. Wicks also served as field organizer for The Hillary Clinton for President Campaign.
Today former United States President Barack Obama endorsed Buffy Wicks to serve as the next California Assemblymember for District 15. Buffy Wicks worked for President Obama for 6 years both in the White House as Deputy Director of Public Engagement and served as a top litueient in both of Obama’s presidential campaigns, including as California Field Director. Wicks is credited as one of the primary architects of Obama’s grassroots organizing model.
“I’m proud to endorse such a wide and impressive array of Democratic candidates – leaders as diverse, patriotic, and big-hearted as the America they’re running to represent,” said President Obama. “I’m confident that, together, they’ll strengthen this country we love by restoring opportunity that’s broadly shared, repairing our alliances and standing in the world, and upholding our fundamental commitment to justice, fairness, responsibility, and the rule of law. But first, they need our votes – and I’m eager to make the case for why Democratic candidates deserve our votes this fall.”
“I am deeply honored to be endorsed by my former boss and President of the United States, Barack Obama,” said Wicks. “I joined the Obama 2008 campaign because he was the candidate who wanted to expand healthcare and create a progressive movement. I am honored to run as an Obama alumni with the same goals of passing big, bold progressive legislation and win by organizing at the local level.”
President Obama believes our long-term challenges can be addressed best when we all take a more active role in our democracy. That’s why he is dedicating his post-Presidency efforts to identifying and elevating the next generation of leaders. In issuing this first round of endorsements, President Obama hopes to help current and aspiring Democratic leaders establish themselves, build their profiles, and lead their communities.
