, Freedom Football League: Interview With J.J. Lasley, CEO

Mr. J.J. Lasley talked with Zennie62Media, and was joined by his Chief Operating Officer, Carlos Meeks, and his Director of Social and Digital Media Christianne Harder.

The interview at Zennie62 on focused on how the Freedom Football League and the came to be. Lasley, a famed Stanford Football Legend and NFL Player with the Packers and the Ravens, explained that the FFL came about from a few ex-NFL players talking.

Lasley said that many were “concerned with the direction of the NFL” and wanted to make an alternative. A league that the players were invested in and could gain from that investment. The website explains “The Freedom Football League is rethinking all aspects of the game of football and it starts with the ownership and money. The FFL’s teams will be owned by a unique consortium that includes former NFL players, active players from each FFL team, the local franchise operators, and most uniquely, you the fan.”

What’s interesting about the Freedom Football League strategy is, it uses the current political discourse as part of its marketing. So, the are based in inspiration from the Black Panthers, and the logo that’s in development will reflect that. Lasley, Meeks, and Harder explained that the idea of the isn’t to replace the Las Vegas-bound Oakland Raiders, but to be its own brand – a new approach that reflects Oakland.
