Oakland Grand Lake Theater Protests Demand Trump Close The Camps

Oaklanders came out and over to the Oakland Grand Lake Theater at 3200 Grand Avenue, corner of Grand and Lake Park Avenue, to protest the simply awful, unthinkable, and inhuman, and certainly un-American conditions at the migrant camps at the Southern Boarder of the United States. A backstory.

As part of an ugly, racist, worldwwide, anti-dark-skinned-immigrant campaign that U.S. President Donald Trump involved himself in, the Trump Administration decided to make the U.S. Boarder Detention conditions as uncomfortable as possible under the idea that, as Trump once put it, “they would go back where they came from.”

That policy runs counter to America’s history of acceptance of immigrants, and has conjured up references to Nazi Germany. As photos of the migrant camps were released, and in particular, this weekend and with Vice President Mike Pence there and in full-on-denial-mode, anger toward the Trump Administration has grown to a fever pitch.

That has led to the protests, like this one at the Oakland Grand Lake Theater, and captured by former Oakland Mayor Jean Quan on Twitter:
