Oakland, CA. — Today California’s Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Thurmond, endorsed Assemblymember Buffy Wicks’s re-election to represent District 15.
“Buffy quickly demonstrated – through her votes and legislation – she’s a strong progressive voice for children, families and our public schools,” Thurmond said. “We need legislators like Buffy fighting in Sacramento for much-needed investments in education. I’m proud to endorse her for Assembly District 15 and honored to be working alongside her on our shared goals.”
“Superintendent Tony Thurmond is a champion for public education and I am honored to earn his support,” said Asm. Buffy Wicks. “As fellow District 15 residents, we share a passion for the local community and a deep commitment to fully funding public education in our district and across the state.”
Assemblymember Buffy Wicks is a community organizer, progressive advocate and a grassroots activist with experience at the local, state and federal level. She was first elected to the California State Assembly in 2018 with 54% of the vote.
