ONN – Las Vegas Stadium / Allegiant Stadium Construction Jobs Less Than Projected

Las Vegas Stadium, now called Allegiant Stadium, has produced less than the projected number of construction jobs the Las Vegas Stadium Authority quoted.

According to Dana Gentry of the Nevada Current:

“…construction of the Las Vegas Stadium has provided the full-time equivalent of fewer than 1,000 on-site jobs, a fraction of the employment projections provided to lawmakers who voted to provide $750 million in public money for the project. “Notably, StadCo reported that total construction workforce hours through June reached 2.0 million and all Community Benefits Plan targets are currently being met or exceeded,” says the June 2019 Stadium Authority Project Status Report, the latest report available. 2 million hours equates to 961.5 full-time equivalent jobs, based on a 2,080 hour year of employment. Last year, Brian Haynes of Applied Analysis, the point person for the Las Vegas Stadium Authority, told the Current that of the 18,700 construction jobs to be generated directly or indirectly by the stadium, fewer than 11,000 would be for actual construction of the stadium and its practice field.

So, let’s say that comes to 962 total jobs filled. It is far less than the 18,000, ah, 18,700 jobs, the Current quoted Mr. Haynes as saying. But, that small number also points to another problem: the fewer the number of onsite employees points to less people than needed to finish the stadium such that the entire 2020 NFL Season can be played.

Add to that the weather problems (unexpectedly large levels and many days of rain and high winds, not to mention the summer heat conditions), and all of that adds up to further delays.

Stay tuned.

Oakland News Now Note: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest version of an experimental Zennie62Media mobile media video-blogging system network. This is a major part of our new approach to the production of news media. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and also seek interested content and media technology partners.
