Oakland News Now – Oakland, CA – Oakland Raiders Lose To Denver Broncos 19 To 20 On Drive Khalil Mack Would Have Stopped

Earlier this year, Oakland Raiders Head Coach Jon Gruden said that Khalil Mack played on the Raiders Defense last year and they didn’t perform well. The comment was made to say to the World that Mack wasn’t worth the worry should the Raiders lose him to another team via a trade. Well, the Raiders lost Mack to the Chicago Bears, who then were spotted 20 points by the Green Bay Packers before losing 24 to 23. Mack personally accounted for a touchdown and a strip-sack.

Boy, could the Oakland Raiders have used just the strip-sack against Case Keenum and the Denver Broncos. As it stands, the Raiders lost a game that should have been won, 20 to 19.

The main problem with the Oakland Raiders rests, for the second week in a row, in the lack of a pass-rush. Gruden himself pointed to the problem after this Broncos lost. But another problem Jon misses rests in the fact that the Raiders allowed a 100-yard-rushing performance from rookie running back Phillip Lindsay. Lindsay was 14 rushes for 107-yards, where Marshawn Lynch was 18 rushes for 65 yards. Overall, the Broncos has an average of six yards over rush, versus 3.4 yards per carry for the Raiders.

So, while the Raiders did move the ball through the air, they could not run it well, and they could not stop the run or sack the quarterback when it mattered.

Stay tuned.
