Igor Tregub Kicks Off Berkeley City Council District One Campaign

Igor Tregub, who’s running for the Berkeley City Council District One seat, has been fighting the good fight in the East Bay and Berkeley for just about 10 years. Most of that time, he’s advocated for other people, most notably Barack Obama, during his historic Presidential campaign. But within that seemingly boundless enthusiam has been a deep concern for others, and a desire to make the World around him better. Take this nine year old YouTube video interview:

To that end, Igor ran for, and successfully won, a seat on the Berkeley Rent Board, where he has served effectively for over nine years, to date. And now, he’s chair of Berkeley’s Housing Advisory Commission. I always think of Igor as the email master, because he’s mastered the art of turning his email into a kind of news network – you could get an idea of what was going on that you needed to pay attention to in Berkeley, just by keeping tabs on Igor via his emails, and then later his social media posts. He cares.

On Wednesday night, June 27th, Mr. Tregub launched his run for Berkeley City Council District One Seat, and in doing so, drew a number of people who, themselves, are really working to make life better in the East Bay: California Assembly District 15 candidate and Richmond City Councilmember Jovanka Beckles , Mayor Jesse Arreguin, Oakland Councilmember Dan Kalb, the legendary Fiona Ma who’s running for State Treasurer, Rent Board Chair, John Selawsky, Vice Chair, Paola Laverde and Commissioners, Leah Simon-Weisberg and James Chang, EBMUD board of directors, Andy Katz, and Becky O’Malley, from Berkeley Daily Planet, Sheila Zager Jordan, according to entries posted on Facebook.

Igor’s a rising star in East Bay politics, and for one reason: he cares.

Stay tuned.
