Elaine Brown, Civil Rights Icon, Endorses Natasha Middleton for Oakland City Council District 6

OAKLAND – Natasha Middleton, candidate for Oakland City Council District 6, announced the endorsement today of civil rights icon, author and former Black Panther chair Elaine Brown.

“I wholeheartedly endorse Natasha Middleton for Oakland City Council, District 6,” said Elaine Brown. “It’s time for District 6 to have a representative who will solve problems, not create them. It’s time for District 6 to be represented by a councilmember who will work for all the people, not a select few. It’s time for a principled, policy-focused councilmember who will do the work to address the District 6 housing crisis, lack of business and local development and other critical issues. It’s time for Natasha Middleton for City Council.”

“Wow!” said Middleton. “As an alum of San Francisco State’s School of Ethnic Studies with a B.A. in Black Studies, it’s a huge honor to have the endorsement of civil rights icon Elaine Brown. If anyone understands why we need a change in District 6 leadership, it’s Elaine Brown. I am very proud of this!”

Middleton is the only candidate for District 6 to have earned the endorsement of the entire California legislative delegation representing Oakland: State Senator Nancy Skinner, State Assemblymember Rob Bonta and State Assemblymember Tony Thurmond.
