City Of Oakland Hosts 28th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner And Coat Giveaway

, CA – The City of ’s Human Services Department, Alameda County, Community Action Partnership, Communities United Committee, and the Emergency Food Providers Advisory Committee continue a much-loved Thanksgiving Dinner for the underserved of our community. This wonderful event takes place Tuesday, November 26, 11am – 2pm at the Downtown Oakland City Center Marriott, 1001 Broadway, .

The Thanksgiving Dinner, in its 28th year, is part of the City’s Hunger Program founded in 1985 during Mayor Lionel J. Wilson’s administration. With the support of donors and volunteers, the City serves 2,000 low-income families, senior citizens, and persons experiencing homelessness with a hearty Thanksgiving meal in a communal, festive atmosphere.

The City of also supports transportation to and from the event from our senior centers, low-income housing programs, and shelters.

It is with ongoing community support and generous sponsorships that this event has reached its 28th year. We are grateful to our 2019 sponsors:

Even with such great support, donations are still needed. Just $26 will provide a meal for one guest, $130 will feed a family of five, and $260 will support a table of 10 guests.
