ONN – Oakland News Now: In Robbery Crimes Residents Say They Can’t Count On Oakland Police Anymore
In the vlog post “Oakland Woman Robbed At Gunpoint At Her Canyon Oaks Apartment Building In Viral Video,” a video originally posted over at Worldstarhiphip.com shows a violent robbery in progress – the suspects are still at large. This vlogger’s response was to say that private security and extra lights were needed – but this (one assumes) Oakland resident disagreed writing:
OK, I’m just going to put this out there — why should we HAVE to have our own private police force??? We pay a lot of property taxes — for what??? And we can see everything that happens — EVERYTHING! How is more light going to help??? The victim sees the perpetrator (and says hello). You can see every color on his jacket. What on earth good would lighting up the complex a bright as day (given that this has happened multiple times within a mile of here, in broad daylight) do?
We need more policing. A lot more. And we need the ability to get police services NOW, as opposed to maybe tomorrow or the next day.
It’s clear that Oakland residents have the idea that the Oakland Police have basically given up on answering calls for all but the most violent actions. Some say it’s a money issue, but is it? I think Oakland’s Police needs to look at how it “serves and protects” Oakland.
Note from Oakland News Now Technical: this video-blog post shows the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. The main system is a major part of Zennie62Media’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. There, an uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-owned social media pages. This part allows rapid conversion of YouTube videos from any source channel (with permission and from Zennie62 on YouTube) to Oakland News Now blog posts. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.Zennie62Media, Inc with CEO Zenophon Abraham.
