Netflix took a big risk in electing to back Martin Scorcese’s The Irishman, and have been rewarded with 10 Academy Awards nominations by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, including “Best Picture”.
Also, Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthaland Emma Tillinger Koskoff, are the producers. This is the third Best Picture nomination for Martin Scorsese. His other Best Picture nominations are for Hugo (2011) and The Wolf of Wall Street. And note, “Joker”, another risky film, landed 11 nominations.
