ONN – Larry Reid, the Oakland District 7 Councilmember and Oakland-Alameda Council Coliseum Joint Powers Authority Member, didn’t waste time blasting the Oakland Raiders after the Coliseum JPA Raiders Lease vote, and for the Las Vegas Stadium Relocation and the way it was done by the NFL and the team.
Asked what he thought of the passage of the Oakland Raiders Lease, Reid said that it wasn’t important to him: “I’m here because of the loyal Raiders Fans who were mistreated by the Raiders. The wanted the Raiders to play another year, so.. I think the Raiders did the City (of Oakland) an injustice. This is the second time that the Raiders have just, just stepped on these die-hard Raider Fans that loved them on the worse days. And now, they’re off to Las Vegas. And so, you know, I take issue with that. We had a deal that was structured. That would allow the Raiders to stay here. Play in a brand-new football stadium – and they chose to go off to Las Vegas, and disrespect those who have been so loyal to them. Yeah, it brings revenue to the City, but also more important is the employees.”
