This is from the Oakland Police Department:

The City of Oakland is an exciting venue to host First Fridays’. As a city and as a police department we know thousands of people come from around the Bay Area to experience art, food, live music and the diversity of our great city.

The Oakland Police Department is focused on facilitating a safe festival and community engagement while strict enforcement of criminal violations. In our efforts to ensure the safety of our attendees, vendors and the surrounding neighborhoods we will be increasing our staffing and private security will be onsite. OPD’s Traffic Enforcement Unit will be conducting a DUI check point in the area.

Stay tuned.
